TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

• Have your cameras ready as you travel into ‘Īao Valley, a short but spectacular drive into Halemahina (West Maui Mountains). Admire vibrant rainforest greenery, towering gorge walls and dramatic volcanic topography.
• Once inside ʻĪao Valley State Park, focus on the iconic ʻĪao Needle, a volcanic basalt pinnacle rising 2,250 feet above sea level. This dramatic geological feature served as a strategic watchtower during historic conflicts and offers excellent photo opportunities from nearby lookouts.
• Hike ʻĪao Valley’s rainforest trails as they traverse clear streams and climb to panoramic observation points. Explore lush native vegetation, learn about culturally important Hawaiian plants, and discover the history of the Battle of Kepaniwai—an important event that helped shape the islands.
• Take the road less traveled—a coastal route experienced by very few visitors, free of tour buses and heavy traffic. Let the journey reveal undisturbed shoreline scenery and a true sense of solitude. This quieter itinerary creates more opportunities for unhurried stops, spontaneous photo breaks and local encounters.
• Pause at multiple scenic lookouts to admire magnificent views of the unique terrain found throughout. Each viewpoint frames a different aspect of West Maui’s coastline—from sheer lava cliffs to sweeping ocean horizon, perfect for photos. Look for humpback whales cruising through the deep blue waters of the Pacific Ocean (winter only).
• Browse a cliff‐top gallery featuring countless local artists, where paintings, prints, sculptures and jewelry reflect Maui’s culture and beauty. This unique venue blends art and environment—take time to cherish one‐of‐a‐kind souvenirs and support local creativity.
• Visit the quiet, picturesque town of Kahakuloa to take a step back in time. Stop for shave ice, chat with locals, and soak in laid‐back coastal charm. The town’s muted environment offers a relaxing break from busier tourist areas.
• Explore the Olivine Pools, a series of natural tidal pools formed where lava rock meets the ocean, creating dramatic pockets of clear water. The visually stunning and photogenic area also offers an optional swim to escape the hot sun (dependent upon ocean conditions).
• Observe the Nakalele Blowhole, where ocean water is forced through an underground lava tunnel and erupts in extraordinary fashion through a coastal vent. The spectacle is powerful and bold—observe from above on rocky bluffs or venture down a trail to get a more intimate view.
• Walk a secluded white‐sand beach to relax in peace, away from the crowds. Enjoy empty shoreline and uninterrupted ocean views. This hidden beach is ideal for quiet reflection and shell searching.
• Hike a short forested trail to Honolua Bay, a protected marine reserve renowned for vibrant coral reefs and excellent snorkeling. Visit in the winter for the opportunity to watch surfers challenge themselves at one of Maui’s premier waves.
